Dr. Larry Van Daalen, OD

Dr. Larry Van Daalen

Larry Van Daalen O.D. was born and raised in Fostoria, Iowa. He is a graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA, where he majored in Pre-Optometry. After graduating from Buena Vista, he attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he earned his Doctorate of Optometry. He graduated with honors due to his extensive involvement in the community. In 1987, Dr. Van Daalen moved to Waverly with his wife, Shannon. Where he has practiced for the last 29 years.

Since moving to Waverly, Larry has been actively involved in the community. He has been a member of the Lion Club, and he has been the local club’s president three times. He has also been honored by the Lion of the Year award on two occasions; Dr. Van Daalen was the first person to receive this honor more than once. In addition to the Lions Club, he also was the chairman of the municipal golf course for 14 years. Dr. Van Daalen also served as the President of the Iowa Optometric Association in 2008. The Iowa Optometric Association has awarded Dr. Van Daalen the Optometrist of the Year Award (2003) and the Young Optometrist of the Year (1990) for his dedicated service to the association.
